LAWRENCE -- A new, free parking shuttle bus service at the University of Kansas for men's basketball spectators who need special parking arrangements will begin Dec. 18.

The shuttle will begin one hour before tip-off for men's basketball games and will run from the Lied Center on KU˙s west campus to a parking lot north of Allen Field House. A return service will begin at the game's end.

The arrangement will provide an unlimited number of free parking spaces for people with disabilities.

For people who wish to park their own vehicles close to Allen Field House, spaces on the lower level of the university parking garage are available for $6 per game.

The rate is the same for all who park in the garage.

"It is important that all fans of Kansas basketball be accommodated to the best of the university˙s ability," Don Kearns, director of parking, said. "I believe the shuttle service will be of great benefit to everyone."

The shuttle is equipped with a wheelchair lift and holds about 10 people. It will make as many runs as necessary to serve the fans.

For more information about the shuttle service, contact the KU Parking Department at 864-7275.
