KU names new multicultural affairs director

LAWRENCE -- Robert N. Page Jr. has been named director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Kansas.

Page has served as interim director since July 2000 and previously was associate director of the office, which is part of the Division of Student Affairs' Department of Student Life.

"We are pleased that Robert will be leading our efforts to involve and enrich the lives of KU students," said Ann Eversole, interim dean of students. "His enthusiasm and leadership are well-suited for this role."

A search for a new associate director will begin later this spring, Eversole said.

Page received a bachelor's degree in communication and a master's degree in student personnel administration in counseling, both from Central Missouri State University.

Before joining multicultural affairs, he worked in the Office of Admissions and Scholarships.

He also worked in student housing positions at Arizona State University, Western Illinois University and Illinois State University.

He has been involved with the National Black Greek Leadership Conference, the Symposium for the Recruitment and Retention of Students of Color, and the national "Tunnel of Oppression" program that will be held in April at KU.

Page replaces Alton Scales, who left KU in June 2000
