KU bands warm winter night with Valentine's concert

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas Department of Music and Dance presents the University Band and Concert Band together for a winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Lied Center.

University Band conductor Timothy Oliver and guest Robert Foster will take the group through a program including "The Fairest of the Fair" by John Philip Sousa and "I Am" by contemporary composer Andrew Boysen Jr.

Conductor Tom Stidham will lead the Concert Band through another varied program, including both American and international works such as "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" by John Barnes Chance and "As Summer Was Just Beginning," a song for actor James Dean by Larry Daehn.
