Statements by chancellor, dean on death of KU librarian Mary Miller

University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway and Stella Bentley, dean of libraries, made the following statements today in response to the July 28 death of Mary Miller, Watson librarian. She was a specialist in electronic reference and was instrumental in implementing many of the new library reference services.

KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway:
"The university community is deeply saddened by the loss of this longtime member of the KU family. We send our condolences to her family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time."

Stella Bentley, dean, KU Libraries:
"Mary was an outstanding person and a very hard worker. She will be missed tremendously by her co-workers and others who knew her. Our sympathy goes out to her family."
