LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy will conduct its annual Senior Student Placement Day and Undergraduate Student Career Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Holiday Inn Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.
For the past several years, the event has attracted approximately 50 employer representatives to interview and recruit senior pharmacy students for positions following graduation, as well as recruit undergraduate pharmacy students for summer internship positions.
The annual event is promoted and coordinated through the dean's office, according to School of Pharmacy Dean Jack E. Fincham. Gene Hotchkiss, interim associate dean, acts as the school's career placement coordinator and is responsible for planning the event.
The event will include employers representing many diverse career pathways. Those include retail chain and independent pharmacy practice; hospital pharmacy practice; public health service pharmacy; armed services pharmacy; the pharmaceutical industry; and specialty pharmacy practice opportunities including nursing home, home infusion therapy and postgraduate residency training programs in several specialty areas of practice.
The employers will recruit for vacancies nationwide.
Approximately 150 undergraduate pharmacy students, as well as 90 doctor of pharmacy degree candidates graduating in May 2004, will attend and participate in the event.
The School of Pharmacy provides assistance and guidance to the students in interviewing techniques, construction of appropriate resume documents and enhancement of skills essential for participation in the interview process.
