Maize senior to direct executive staff for KU student-operated radio station

LAWRENCE -- Brent Stevens, Maize senior in strategic communications at the University of Kansas, has been selected as station manager for the spring 2004 semester of KJHK 90.7-FM, the student-operated radio station on the air at KU since 1975. Eleven other KU students are on the station's executive staff this semester.

About 150 KU students are involved in the student radio station activities, according to Andrew Dierks, KJHK general manager and program adviser. Previously a part of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, the radio station is now part of the KU Memorial Unions. Programming includes a mix of rock, jazz, hip-hop, sports, news, and special interest news and talk shows.

Stevens was public relations director during the fall 2003 semester. During that time he established "KJ Play," a regular music review section in the University Daily Kansan student newspaper. A graduate of Maize High School, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stevens of Wichita.
