KU announces additions to fall 2003 honor roll

LAWRENCE -- More than 280 University of Kansas undergraduate students have been added to KU's honor roll for the fall 2003 semester. Students on the spring 2004 honor roll will be announced later this month.

KU originally announced the names of more than 4,000 undergraduates whose academic excellence earned them honor roll status in fall 2003.

The additional names are those of students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences whose names inadvertently were omitted from the original list due to unforeseen difficulties in adapting new computer software for student records. Several of the honor roll students whose names were added had completed core requirements in liberal arts and sciences to qualify them to enter professional schools at KU.

Honor roll criteria vary among the university's academic units. Some schools honor the top 10 percent of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll.

About 71 percent of KU's 29,272 students are undergraduates.

The names of students honored, their school or department, their parents' or guardians' names and their high school alma maters are listed online.
