Political analyst James Carville to speak March 29 at KU's Lied Center

LAWRENCE -- Student Union Activities and Student Senate at the University of Kansas are bringing political strategist James Carville to campus for the 2004 Student Lecture Series.

Carville will speak at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the Lied Center of Kansas. A press conference will precede the event from 5 to 5:30 p.m. in the Jayhawk Room of the Kansas Union.

Tickets to the lecture, which are $7 for KU students, faculty and staff, and $13 for the general public, are available at the SUA box office, on the fourth floor of the Kansas Union, or (785) 864-SHOW.

Carville is an author and speaker, and he is co-host of CNN's "Crossfire." Sometimes called the "Ragin' Cajun," Carville is an outspoken political strategist who achieved notoriety after his consulting firm, Carville & Begala, helped elect President Bill Clinton in 1992. Carville later served as a senior political adviser to the president.

Carville was named Campaign Manager of the Year in 1993 by the American Association of Political Consultants.

Carville is co-author with Paul Begala of the bestseller "Buck Up, Suck Up ... and Come Back When You Foul Up." He also has written "We're Right, They're Wrong: A Handbook for Spirited Progressives," "And the Horse He Rode in on: The People vs. Ken Starr" and "Stickin' -- The Case for Loyalty."
