KU Office of Multicultural Affairs to host 28th annual graduation banquet

LAWRENCE -- The Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Kansas will host its 28th annual graduation banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union.

This year's banquet will reflect multiculturalism as a whole through the celebration of culture and academic success. Jackie Nugent, a registered investment adviser and financial consultant affiliated with Berthel Fisher and Company Financial Services Inc., will be this year's guest speaker. She earned a bachelor's degree from KU in 1996 and a master's degree in business administration in 2001. Nugent was born in the Philippines but grew up in Belleville. Now a Lawrence resident, she is involved in the community through participation in the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City, the Fil-Am Community of Lawrence, the Lawrence Family Host Program and her local church.

Graduates are invited as honored guests. General public tickets are $20 for guests and $100 for a table sponsorship. They are available until 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the Office of Multicultural Affairs, 145 Strong Hall or (785) 864-4351. After May 19, some tickets may still be available on a space-limited basis.
