MEDIA ADVISORY: President Clinton's Lecture at KU on Friday

TO CREDENTIALED MEDIA:
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
DOLE LECTURE BY PRESIDENT CLINTON
Friday, May 21

 • Former President Bill Clinton will deliver the Dole Lecture at 2:15 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He will be introduced by former Sen. Bob Dole. The 30-minute speech will be followed by a 30-minute moderated question-and-answer format. Dole and Clinton will leave KU immediately following the speech.
 • Doors to Allen Fieldhouse will open at 12:30 p.m. People who obtained tickets either at the Lied Center or from the Dole Institute have reserved seats. All other tickets are general admission seating.
 • There will NOT be a press conference.
 • No reserved media parking except for satellite and microwave transmission trucks. More information below.
 • Parking. Campus parking lots will be restricted to permit holders until 10:30 a.m. Friday, at which time all lots will open to the general public. The first level of the Allen Fieldhouse parking garage will be reserved for people with disabled parking placards.

ELECTRONIC MEDIA COVERAGE
Shoulder-held TV cameras WILL be allowed inside Allen Fieldhouse. No tripods, please, and cameras will not be permitted on the floor of the fieldhouse. (This is a change from a previous media advisory.)

Video Feed: There will be a live multi-camera video feed of the lecture available at the south side of Allen Fieldhouse and via satellite. We recommend you bring a videotape deck specifically to record the feed. Contact Frank Barthell at 864-8869 to obtain information about the satellite feed coordinates. Satellite and microwave transmission vehicles may park in Lot 175, south of the fieldhouse. Enter at 18th Street, adjacent to Oliver Hall, and follow signs to designated parking. Trucks are advised to be in place by 11 a.m. for the security sweep.

Audio Feed: There will be a live audio feed of the lecture available at the south side of Allen Fieldhouse.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS
 • Credentials will be available Wednesday and Thursday at the Office of University Relations, 1314 Jayhawk Blvd. (across from Kansas Union), or between 9 a.m. and noon Friday, May 21, at the KU Parking Services office (directly north of Allen Fieldhouse, on east side of parking garage). You must show a photo ID to pick up credentials. One person may pick up credentials for other members of the organization.
 • You must show your media credential to enter Allen Fieldhouse. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
 • Media seating inside the fieldhouse. There is a reserved media section in designated rows in Sections E and U, adjacent to the stage. However, due to the limited number of seats available, seating in that section cannot be guaranteed.
 • A media room to file stories and photos via phone line will be available at the Parking Services office.

MEDIA PARKING
We can provide reserved parking for television transmission trucks only in Lot 175, south of Allen Fieldhouse. Enter at 18th Street and follow signs. Trucks must be in place by 11 a.m. May 21 for the security sweep.
