Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at KU earns national achievement award

LAWRENCE -- The Kansas Alpha chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon men's social fraternity at the University of Kansas received a national chapter achievement award at the group's national convention in August in St. Charles, Ill.

The award recognizes excellence in scholastics, ritual and risk management. The KU chapter was one of 23 of the fraternity's 278 chapters nationwide to receive the award.

The fraternity's KU chapter was founded in 1903, and the chapter house is at 1301 W. Campus Road. Chris Kaufman, Aurora, Colo., senior in journalism and mass communications (news and information emphasis) is KU chapter president.

ATCHISON COUNTY
From Atchison
Jake Kenyon, sophomore in biology and pre-medicine, son of Linda Falk and Mark Kenyon; Maur Hill Preparatory School; scholarship co-chairman.

JOHNSON COUNTY
From Prairie Village
Kenny Bauman, sophomore in pre-medicine, son of Alan Bauman; Shawnee Mission East High School; intramurals chairman.

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY
From Leavenworth
Ryan Bogner, sophomore in computer science, son of Michael and Cheryl Bogner; Immaculata High School; ritualist and song leader.

COLORADO
From Aurora
Chris Kaufman, senior in journalism and mass communications (news and information emphasis), son of John and Nancy Kaufman; Eaglecrest High School; president.

ILLINOIS
From Crystal Lake
Rick Sexton, junior in communication studies, son of Richard and Connie Sexton; Crystal Lake Central High School; scholarship co-chairman.

From Evanston
Tyler Schmidt, freshman in pre-business administration, son of Frederick and Jeraldine Schmidt; Evanston Township High School.
