KU exhibition to feature work by faculty Jan. 30-Feb. 11 at Art and Design Gallery

LAWRENCE -- An exhibition Jan. 30 through Feb. 11 at the University of Kansas Art and Design Gallery will feature a diverse range of works by various members of the art faculty.

Many professors in KU's art department have shown in national and international exhibitions and are represented in galleries nationwide. This exhibition will offer an exciting opportunity to see what kind of talent they bring to KU, and it will include works in painting, sculpture, drawing, video installation and printmaking.

Pieces by Professor Emeritus Robert Sudlow, a noted painter who taught at KU from 1946 to 1988, will be shown in the exhibition, as well as work by Roger Shimomura, distinguished professor emeritus of performance and painting.

The show also will include works by KU's many other notable faculty:
Jane Asbury, associate professor of printmaking
Phillip Blackhurst, associate professor of drawing and sculpture
David Bowen, assistant professor of sculpture
Robert Brawley, professor of painting
Carol Ann Carter, professor of new genre
Richard Dishinger, associate professor of painting
Ivan Fortushniak, assistant professor of painting
John Hachmeister, associate professor of sculpture
Tanya Hartman, associate professor of painting and drawing
Cima Katz, professor of drawing and printmaking
Michael Krueger, associate professor of printmaking
Gerald Lubensky, professor of painting
Judith McCrea, professor of painting and chair of art
Yoonmi Nam, assistant professor of art
So Yeon Park, assistant professor of performance art
Robert Price, associate professor of painting
Peter Thompson, professor of painting
Maria Velasco, associate professor of installation art
Robert Wright, associate professor emeritus

The opening for this exhibition is scheduled for 1 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Art and Design Gallery, located on the third floor of the Art and Design Building at the northeast corner of 15th Street and Naismith Drive. Hours are 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. The gallery is closed on Saturdays and holidays. Visitor parking is available at the Allen Fieldhouse Parking Garage, 1501 Irving Hill Road.
