KU adjusts spring 2006 calendar by 1 day to correct error; classes to start day later


LAWRENCE -- The good news for University of Kansas students is that the 2006 winter break will be one day longer.

To correct an error in the university's academic calendar, the Kansas Board of Regents has approved starting the 2006 spring semester classes on Friday, Jan. 20, instead of the previously approved date of Thursday, Jan. 19.

The 2005-06 calendar, adopted three years ago, mistakenly made the spring semester one day longer instead of the traditional 75 days.

Because of the change, some official academic dates -- ranging from deadlines to add or drop a class to late-enrollment fee penalties -- will now be one day later than previously announced or published in school planners. A complete list of affected dates is below:
