LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas Graduate and Professional Association will hold its second annual Graduate Research Competition and Summit today, March 1, and Wednesday, March 2. The event is designed to raise awareness about graduate programs at KU and Kansas State University and the importance of university research.

The Graduate Research Competition will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- with a reception following at 5 p.m. -- in the English Room at the Kansas Union. Research projects will be on display, and panels of judges will evaluate the projects. Winners will be announced at the reception, and awards of $500, $250 and $100 will be given to supplement the winners' research. The awards are sponsored by the KU Graduate School.

The Graduate Student Research Summit will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second floor of the state Capitol in Topeka.

Students will showcase their research with lawmakers and the public. Last year more than 20 KU and K-State graduate students presented research.
