LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas Special Events Committee has announced a fall schedule that includes Band Day Sept. 10, Family Weekend Sept. 16 through 17, and Homecoming Week Oct. 22 through 29.

Band Day will kick off Saturday, Sept. 10, with the 58th annual Band Day Parade in downtown Lawrence, featuring the KU Marching Jayhawks and many high school marching bands from Kansas and Missouri. A mass band performance will take place at halftime of the KU football game against Appalachian State University.

Family Weekend will include the sixth annual Collage Concert the evening of Friday, Sept. 16. The concert is a showcase of works by KU visual and performing arts students and faculty from the School of Fine Arts in a nonstop 90-minute format. On Saturday, Sept. 17, the Department of Music and Dance will sponsor a "Day of Dance," KU women's volleyball will host the University of Oklahoma, and the day will culminate with the KU football game against Louisiana Tech University. Homecoming Week at KU will take place Oct. 22 through 29, featuring the traditional Spirit Sprint, pep rally, parade and daily events. Homecoming will culminate with the Jayhawks' taking on the rival Tigers of the University of Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 29. Additional information will be available at www.homecoming.ku.edu.

" We worked with a variety of organizations to arrange a fall schedule that will work well for our students, their families, alumni and the whole community," said Richard Johnson, dean of students.
