KU Theatre to stage student one-acts in Inge Theatre in April

LAWRENCE -- Two one-act plays directed, designed and performed by undergraduate theatre students at the University of Kansas will be staged in April in the William Inge Memorial Theatre in Murphy Hall.

" Wonderful Time" by Jonathan Marc Sherman and "The Brides" by Harry Kondoleon will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15; 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9; 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10; and 5 p.m. Saturday, April 16.

Designers for the student one-acts are David Wanner, University Theatre scene shop manager, scenery; Rachael Perry, Topeka junior, lighting; and Christina Montgomery, Lawrence junior, costumes.

" Wonderful Time" is directed by Samara Naeymi, Overland Park senior, and "The Brides" is directed by Blake E. Bolan, Manhattan senior.

" Wonderful Time" features Linus Worth, a graduate film student in California, getting ready to attend his best friend's wedding in New York. The day he has to leave, his world is turned upside down as his relationship comes to an end and a new woman enters his life.

" The Brides" is a musical fantasy that takes place in the mind of a mythical bride moments before she is to enter a church to be married, Bolan said. The groom is the bride's knight in shining armor, which turns out to be both a dream and a curse as she realizes that not everything she wants is what it is cracked up to be.
