Statement by chancellor on death of KU student Lyndon 'Lyndy' Wells

LAWRENCE -- University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway issued the following statement in response to the death this morning of KU sophomore Lyndon 'Lyndy' Hubbell Wells, 20, of Lawrence and St. Louis, Mo. Wells died at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., following an illness. He was a student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday at Danforth Chapel at KU. The family is requesting donations to Make a Wish Foundation in lieu of flowers.

" On behalf of the entire university community, I want to express profound sorrow at the death of Lyndy Wells and offer our deepest sympathies to his mother and father, family and friends. We all mourn his loss after such a courageous battle."
