KU senior class officers announce annual Campanile Award recipient

LAWRENCE -- The senior class officers at the University of Kansas recently named Michael David Danielson, a graduating senior from Sioux Falls, S.D., as the recipient of the 2005 Campanile Award.

The KU Class of 2000 established the Campanile Award to be presented annually to a senior graduating in May. The recipient must have displayed remarkable leadership, strength of character and respect for the university while at KU.

Danielson will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in biology and Western civilization. He is the son of Betsy and David Danielson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls.

During his four years at KU, Danielson served as a resident assistant in Oliver Hall and was president of the National Residence Hall Honorary and president of the Biology Club. He served on the advisory committees for biology majors and for humanities and Western civilization. He was also involved with the Student Senate University Affairs Committee, Campus Crusade for Christ, Golden Key and Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.

KU's Board of Class Officers selects the recipient of the Campanile Award based on a short essay on his or her contributions to KU and the Lawrence community and an interview with the senior class officers.
