KU, Coach Mangino encourage fans to 'celebrate safely'

LAWRENCE -- The University of Kansas and Coach Mark Mangino are encouraging Jayhawk fans to celebrate safely at Saturday's KU-Nebraska football game at Memorial Stadium.

"Safety is our first priority," said Marlesa Roney, vice provost for student success. "It is important for all of us to have a good time, but let's do it the right way."

KU will play the Cornhuskers at noon in Lawrence. As always, university staff will lower the posts immediately following the end of the game, as they did at last Saturday's game, to reduce the chance for injury.

"Being a Jayhawk is a special privilege, and Jayhawk fans have been fabulous this season. Thank you for your support," said Mangino. "Our players have represented KU proudly. I know the fans want to do the same by acting responsibly and looking out for the safety of their friends and fellow students."
