KU Student Alumni Association announces new officers, leaders for 2006-07

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Student Alumni Association, a student volunteer program sponsored by the KU Alumni Association, has announced its 2006-07 officers and leaders.

Each year, the student association’s members help host special events on campus, including an ice cream social during Hawk Week in August and the Grad Grill and commencement lunch events each May. Student Alumni Association members also participate in homecoming and other traditional campus events. Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, is the adviser. About 60 students belong to the organization, Alderdice said.

Founded in 1987, the Student Alumni Association educates students about the KU Alumni Association through involvement in various activities, with a goal of preparing students to become future alumni leaders, fostering spirit and pride and continuing university traditions. In 2003, the student association was named the country’s outstanding student alumni organization by the national Association of Student Advancement Programs.
