KU to honor 23 high school seniors from Brown, Doniphan counties at Hiawatha

LAWRENCE — Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, March 1, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 23 seniors from high schools in Brown and Doniphan counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Hiawatha High School, 600 Red Hawk Drive, Hiawatha.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

David Adkins, vice chancellor of external affairs at the KU Medical Center, will speak. Alumni Association representative Jamie Winkelman, coordinator for alumni programs of the Kansas Honors Program, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $9 each. Honored students will be guests of the alumni and endowment associations.

LeLand and Debbie Hansen, Hiawatha, will be site coordinators. Mike and Pam Arnold, Bendena, will be coordinators for the counties.

The Kansas Honors Program began in 1971. It has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
