KU Department of Art students earn scholarships, awards at gallery show

LAWRENCE — During an annual spring exhibition and competition, the University of Kansas Department of Art awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships and awards to more than 45 students.

Award and scholarship winners were selected by a KU faculty committee that judged nominated students’ art projects displayed April 30 through May 2 in KU’s Art and Design Building.

About 40 art students received more than $182, 000 in scholarships of varying amounts. The scholarship recipients’ names will be released in the fall by KU Endowment.

Ten students received awards totaling about $18,200 from three awards funds: Hollander Family Foundation Award, the Harry and Jessie Jacobs Prize and the Helen and Kelvin Hoover Award.

The award recipients are listed below by hometown, level in school, major, parents’ names, high schools and award.
