Media advisory: World War II Army Rangers reunion on KU campus Friday

LAWRENCE — More than 60 members of the elite World War II U.S. Army Rangers will attend a reunion on the University of Kansas campus Friday, June 9. About 200 people, including spouses and children, are expected to attend activities in Lawrence June 8-10.

The U.S. Army Rangers are an elite group of soldiers selected for their physical strength, endurance, intelligence and ability to maintain composure under the rigors of battle. They often carry out highly dangerous missions behind enemy lines.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Rangers will attend a memorial service at the Dole Institute of Politics on KU’s west campus and then enjoy an outdoor dinner and carillon concert at the Memorial Campanile, KU’s World War II memorial.

Neither event is open to the public, but media may attend the concert at parking lot 59, located north of the campanile, accessed from 11th and Maine streets.
