KU names third of three candidates for associate vice provost for Student Success

LAWRENCE — The third of three candidates for associate vice provost for Student Success at the University of Kansas will visit campus next week and conduct a public forum Wednesday, March 8.

The candidate, Lori Reesor, will make a presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Centennial Room of the Kansas Union. If selected, she will join Vice Provost Marlesa Roney and Associate Vice Provosts Rich Morrell and Kathryn Nemeth Tuttle, who serve as the senior leadership team for Student Success, KU’s comprehensive student services organization. Nineteen departments and more than 750 staff comprise Student Success.

Reesor is associate dean of education and an assistant professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She previously was dean of students at Wichita State University from 1997-2001 and was an associate director of admissions at KU from 1995-97. She earned her doctoral degree in educational policy and leadership from KU in 1995, her master’s degree in higher education from Iowa State University in 1987 and her bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1984.

Student Success provides services and programs that assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals. The Office of the Vice Provost coordinates the development of these services and programs and serves as an advocate for student needs across the university community.

The Student Success departments are: Academic Achievement and Access Center (includes Disability Resources and Learning Communities); Academic Technology Services; Counseling and Psychological Services (includes Testing Service); Department of Student Housing; Freshman-Sophomore Advising Center; Hilltop Child Development Center; KU Memorial Unions; KU Recreation Services; KU Writing Center; Legal Services for Students; New Student Orientation; Office of Admissions and Scholarships; Office of Multicultural Affairs; Office of Student Financial Aid; Office of the University Registrar; Student Health Services; Student Information Systems; Student Involvement and Leadership Center; and the University Career Center.
