Legal education conference at KU offers updates on state laws, classes in ethics

LAWRENCE — Area attorneys will convene in Lawrence in June for an annual conference briefing them on recent changes in the law, from funeral pickets and school finance to product liability and corporate ethics.

Sponsored by the University of Kansas School of Law and KU Continuing Education, “Recent Developments in the Law” is set for June 1-2 at Green Hall on the KU campus.

“This year’s topics could be taken from today’s headlines,” said Todd Rogers, director of career services at the law school and moderator of the conference. “We’ll look at the constitutional questions raised by the school finance case, product liability concerns of prescription drugs, the fiduciary duties of corporate directors and grandparent visitation rights, among other topics.”

Three ethics classes also will be offered on legal ethics across state lines, lawyers and client solicitation and current legal ethics cases. Faculty are professors from the KU School of Law and Terry Bullock, judge for the Third Judicial District.

The conference will provide up to 14 hours of continuing legal education credit, including four hours of ethics credit. For a full conference agenda and registration, call toll free (877) 404-5823 or visit
