Professional Clothing Closet to have extended hours before career fair

More Information

LAWRENCE — The Professional Clothing Closet at the University of Kansas will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 20 and 21 to help prepare students for the Just in Time Career Fair.

The closet, located in the University Career Center, 110 Burge Union, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round Monday through Friday. The closet provides KU students with free professional clothing for career fairs, interviews and professional work settings.

As of March 31, more than 100 students have utilized a total of 254 items from the closet.

“Business attire can be very expensive, and a lot of times college students do not have the necessary funds to purchase items such as suits and ties that are preferred by employers for career fairs and interviews,” said Erin Wolfram, assistant director of the University Career Center and professional etiquette consultant. “We want all students to have the opportunity to make a great impression when meeting with employers no matter their financial situation, and the professional clothing closet allows this.”

Students can view an online listing of items available in the free professional clothing closet at KUCareerHawk.com/clothing. Each item listing includes the size, color and a brief description.

KU students are allowed up to five items. Small monetary donations are welcome but not required. All monetary donations will be given to the Willow Domestic Violence Center in Lawrence.

Clothing donations will continue to be accepted and can be dropped off year-round at the University Career Center. Any unusable clothing will be donated to other organizations in Lawrence.

The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
