LAWRENCE — Deputy Technology Officer Jeff Perry at University of Kansas Information Technology has been named a 2012 InfoWorld Technology Leadership Award winner. The award, presented by IDG's InfoWorld, an international technology publication, recognizes technology leaders who have demonstrated creativity and innovation within their organization and in the IT community.

Perry was recognized for the leadership he brought to KU’s subscription-based, multitiered data storage solution, Central File Storage. Perry led a multidisciplinary team of technologists and administrative staff across campus in successfully introducing and implementing this solution. Central File Storage provides low-cost, scalable data storage for faculty, staff and KU groups, with additional benefits such as self-service file recovery, ease of use, automated backup, improved compliance and increased security.

“This award is the result of the university’s willingness to truly be in the innovation industry ― not only in what we teach but in how we operate. The leadership at KU has asked for innovative and creative solutions, and our staff has risen to the challenge. Not only was KU’s administration incredibly supportive, but the campus community’s response has been phenomenal,” Perry said.

Perry has worked at the University of Kansas for the past 12 years. In February, he was named deputy technology officer at KU IT.

KU’s Chief Information Officer Bob Lim said the award reflects the high quality of work that Information Technology performs, often behind the scenes.

“Getting recognized by the technology community is the maturity model we want KU IT to aspire to. We want to show the world, not just KU, that the brightest minds and leading thinkers are right here at KU,” Lim said.

The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
